Last night a youth backed into my 6 week old blue/black mica 5 door. He scuffed the corner of the front bumper. Does anyone know if this will have to be replaced or could the marks be polished out ?

Hard lines Mate - you have all our sympathies. I reckon that the minimum age for driving should be 21.... ;0)

Have a go at some T-Cut or the like - can't do any more harm than has been done already.

If the black plastic of the bumper is showing it will need to be sprayed for a proper job.

Thanks guys. I have the drivers details so I think I'll take it to a specialist and claim on his insurance.

As this will be the first time I have ever claimed (had a company car most of my adult life), can someone confirm if this incident could affect my insuarce even though the youth was totally to blame and admitted everything- i'm with Tesco and i assume i need to do it through them.

Depends how much the quote is Mate. You might be better just popping round to see him with the bill (err.... not the Old Bill, you understand!)

Go and see your local dealer or bodyshop. If the scuff is just on the bumper then a smart repair (localised paintwork done with the bumper on the car minimum fuss, usually £75 -£100) is probably all you need rather than a bumper off full respray.
