Going to view a wagon - any pointers
Hi All,
I'm off to see a 2000 wagon UK, with FSSH history this afternoon. 100k.
Just after some advice on things to look out for. I'm not so mechanically minded and have either used The Force, or Instinct before.
So matter how trivial, ie. panel alignment etc, i'm just after a few things to check and look out for.
Many thanks...
Gaz

I didn't. The traffic was shocking and had to turn around for a squash match. Might be going the weekend, although i'm contemplating holding out for an STi or RA.
Still undecided...

Got to be a wagon for me for the extra practicality .
I went to look at one last weekend but the dealers looked a bit dodgy so didn`t bother having a close look .
Missed one that looked a cracker for £2300 and nothing else ive seen ticks all the boxes since
The search continues .................

If it looks good body wise, and is running well. Then id watch for future bill action. I say this as i have a 99 Uk turbo wagon myself and have recently done the following... Id ask when clutch was changed if at all,Suspension, lambda sensor.
Other things to watch for... You are going to need timing belt changed soon enough though not urgent and depends when it was last done. Brake discs and pads(how old, do they look on the slide).
Has the car been modded?. How much is it going for?
As for an sti/Ra instead. They are def the more attractive option. Will feel more special to drive and have stronger engines and extra goodies. Depends on what you want to do with it. Uk turbo is good for around the 300bhp mark is cheap to buy, cheaper to insure,is not so flashy and wanted on thieves birthday lists(especially wagon).
I have had mine for 6 odd years, had little problems with it. Put a big mileage on it, use it day to day, lug stuff in the big boot and love it to bits. But if i wanted a snorting beast racer of a scoob id go for an sti/ra everytime.
