A 2.5 litre STi with a head gasket gone again
Mine has also a head gasket gone after many months of showing little symptoms.
It won't be a warranty claim as I'm using the opportunity to beef up the pistons and do other work.

Why have Subaru got the std 2.5 build so wrong?

i am just relieved that its getting done

when you read the comments on here about subaru getting out of doing warranty work, its just worries you

just to add that subaru are my favourit peeps at the mo

just got two more things after the cars rebuilt, nearside rear shock knocking and a strange humming sound from front nearside (i suspect wheel bearing) but we will see

warranty runs out tomorrow, so start saving for JGM

I listen to some very smart advice and thats why bought a MY06 JDM 2.0ltr rather than a UK 2.5ltr

UK/US/EU 2.5ltr reliability issue of ring land and Head gaskets, why don't they just fit a Cossy engine

Save a mass recall on the engines and make the Cosworth

Glad to hear that all is going to be ok with the head gasket failure , makes you think though have Subaru engineered a suitable fix for the problem ie uprated gaskets etc.

Are you up for another run around the Evo triangle in the summer? I know that I am but I'll be staying overnight next time, I got in at 2.45 in the morning after the last one.

I was under the impression that the OEM HGs are more than enough for big builds.
Is it block or head faces that aren't being finished very well at the factory or det breaking up ring lands & HGs that leads to std built 2.5 engines?

I am definitely up for another run up North, probably June is looking best with all the shows coming up. When you are ready post it up in the Wales section and we will get the ball rolling.

Hope all goes well the head gasket repair.

The sheep made an interesting obstacle on the twin lakes run...
