newbi help/questions
hi guys have just joined the site.Im from a 200sx background originally, i drive in the British drifting championship and am about to purchase a 2004 shape wrx estate as my everyday car and have some questions for you experts which i would appreciate some help with. first question is the estate much different at handling to the saloon ? what is the standard boast ? what boast level can be used safely with the standard top mount ic ? i pressume it runs 444c injectors as standard ? are there any common problems to look out for on purchasing ? whats the standard exhaust width and flow like( is an upgrade needed for usefull performance under 320bhp ? whats the general thoughts on the estate wrx
Thanks for your time and any help would be much appreicated

The wrx comes with 221 break out of the box mate. The exhaust system is 2.5" i think. Common issues, turbo's (as any turbo'd car), check the clutch (it can judder when cold but this is normal) standard boost should be just under 1bar.
You will need a better exhaust if you want to unleash more power. The car will have three cats fitted (not a misprint!!) one in the uppipe (header-turbo) replacing this with a decatted version will improve spool
One in the downpipe (turbo to exhaust) put a 100cell sport cat in
and one in the midpipe (in a section of exhaust) remove this!
Fit a good pannel filter. (k&n or green)
remap by someone good (JGM or DYNAMIX)
this will see you to about 280bhp approx.
As for the wagon v saloon handling, both are very similar, quite alot of roll. A good set of arb's and an anti lift kit will improve it ALOT!
Hope this helps
