Default Time to deal with the thieving scum

Yet again another ****** has had a go at breaking into the bonnet of my Subaru. Last year it was the wagon, that went and now its the Forester.

They didnt get in this time but they did manage to break the internal fins on the air scoop and leave it wonkey.

Local dealer is quoting £210+Vat for the scoop! and a paint job circa £100!

Looking at the old scoop I am tempted to fix it with the power of araldite and then line the inner lip of the scoop with reverse facing razorblades as a thieving ****** deterrent.

Given that they will probably have another try or some other idiot will my thinking was firstly that its a handy evidence source and secondly they will think twice before they do it again.

I appreciate there may be some liability issues although it would be interesting to hear the explanation as to how the fingers got into the scoop!

Has anyone else done similar or know of a better solution?

I think, as long as you stick a warning sticker somewhere regarding said rasor blades.. you'll be legal..

My thoughts entirely, not just with the blood, if they leave some tissue behind as well that makes it even easier, no defence that the DNA was planted!

Plus fingertips are densly packed with nerves so its going to hurt!

Will be working on my Gillette Cat 1 Alarm sticker!

Ah the joys of living in the wilds of Bedfordshire, had performance cars for years in London, not a problem, move to world of pikey and lo and behold its crime central!

Any thoughts on an internal CCTV camera that looks though the windscreen? Would be nice to have a video momento of the perp getting with the shorter finger action

Ha haa you could merge the blades and a mouse trap together and intergrate them into the vents

Excuse my ignorance, but why are they trying to get under the bonnet? Is it to get to the alarm?

Various reasons, last year they had my MAF sensor out of my old Impreza Wagon, but it could also have been some corsa driving halfords ram raider wanting a scoop for his bonnet or just some mindless vandalism.

Who knows, dont want to try and understand them, just want to make sure the little sh*ts dont come back, and if they do that they pay the appropriate price for it.

Then retro fit an intercooler waterspray system, fill with a mix of vinegar and lemon juice, and set to be triggered by said alarm system

know of any crazy farm dogs? u could chain a very aggressive dog to the car?(around one of the front wheels) there are some nasty farm collies about that are used to being on chains.......trust me,u would have to be mad to approach.also a rotweiller is a great one to use although they do sleep quite heavy....sorry to hear this,i would be psychotic! the razor blades is a good idea but not too sure if u would get into serious **** by doing it(depending on results) or u could rig up some cameras so that they are blatently obvious for the thief to see? security lights??.......

i had an attempted theft last year, cctv is only a deterrent and tbh they just put their hoods up and carry on. i got a sensor fitted so whenever anyone comes onto our front path where the car is a buzzer goes off in our bedroom. our 2 blue staffies are now aware of this and whenever they hear it they know now and they are alerted as well as us. i also have a proximity sensor and they are more than loud enough, especially at night! so my advice is motion sensor- proximity sensor-bad *** dogs-baseball bat-understanding neighbours.

You can buy small wireless cameras that run of a 9volt battery. If your car is a daily driver then you could fit a 12v one and run it off the car battery.

retro fit a circular saw on the front, make a clamp that pinches and hold them in place then set the saw to cut slow!!!

alternativly u could place battery acid in a bag. when they place there hand in the razor cuts the bag cuts them then bathes them in acid.

or hire a gay guy get him to hide. set the clamp to hold his hands in the scoob then let captain buggery have his wicked way. trust me he wouldnt come back.

im beginning to think im twisted.

If you do it, make sure that you also have a 'standard' scoop etc and fit it at the first sign of blood/missing digits on the bonnet/intercooler. When (if!)the police turn up you'll be in the clear. "What officer, na, not me, they must be mistaken............"
