Default Hi, Newbie here to Subaru...

Hi,

(Couldn't seem to find a newbie section so I assumed this goes in here..)

Im kristian from Warrington/Wigan area.

...and ive just got an Impreza WRX Wagon. L Reg import. Ive been tuning nissans for years.. specialising in bodywork and turbo conversions on FWD Nissans..

Ive recently branched out into 200sx's and ive picked up this as a new working vehicle.. to tow our Drag Almera GTI Turbo, and various other jobs..

( looking for a few bits in 'Wanted' section )

Since ive been so impressed by the car I thought We will spend some money on it and maybe venture into the subaru stuff.

Car was a cheapy with scruffy front bumper, starter motor problem, and high miles. Advertised as STOCK.

However.. its certainly not.

Import - electric everything, retracting mirrors, Climate Control, AC.. etc.

Nardi wheel and ****.
Speedline? Alloys ( gold in color )
Some aftermarket suspension.. Very good
Complete Stainless exhaust system ( turbo back )

I think its got some alignment/chassis mods too..

Im waiting to find a towbar and starter and then well get it on the Ramp and see what exactly whats on there..

Really pleasently surprised with the car..

Very impressed with the handling and AWD in the snow. Power wise its probably running barly more than stock with the bits on it..

I think with the power it would seem a very fast car in comparison to most road cars.. but its hard to compare, as in terms of accelleration our 1.3 Micra turbo would out sprint it im sure.. hm..

I think it needs a good service and possibly a few new sensors.. as it seems to 'search' a little @ idle when cold.. Idle when hot is good..

Economy could be better.. and when WOT it DRINKS the fuel!...

So Any advice as to what ive bought would be great guys!!!..

Power it should have.. things to check etc..?

Reccomended upgrades? ( are staged chips available?? Similar to the 200sx stuff? )

Thanks

Unfortunatly im looking for a tow bar and starter to make the car 100% functional.. but then definatly going to be spending some money on it.. Possibly full repaint.. maybe new turbo, injectors, FMIC etc.

Ill update this thread with some pics tomorrow!..

Cheers for the help guys.. Seems a really good club.

coulb be mate also if your in 4th gear at 4000rpm then you floor it if the revs go mad ya clutch is on its way out and these engines are amazing aslong as ya service every 6 months or 7500 myles and change the oil it should last a life time

No clutch slippage at all.. definatly hesitant.. just very slight lulls in the pull as it goes thorugh the rev range.

'recent cluctch and discs and pads all round' was the sales talk..

...although we are yet to check the whole thing over.. From glancing underneath though it seems like a recent import.. so definatly some crystal lights. splitter a fog light covers are going on.. ( been checking the members rides section for inspiration! )

Welcome
These are 220ps out of the box (super unleaded fuel only), extra's like climate are standard on these (they are a higher spec than a uk car), servicing is every 6 months/7.5k whichever is first, belts are 45k or 3 years, diff/gearbox oil (your going to love the gearbox oil change ) is 30k or 2 years, and there are some specifics to doing the oil changes (especially filling the filter), but generally the biggest issues are oil pumps failing, always worth replacing on an older car I think
