Default About to buy first scooby - Please help clarify couple of points

Hi,

I am looking at an 05 WRX 2.0 Impreza Turbo with 25k on the clock. Its up for £9k. This will be my first Subaru and although the car is very clean bodywork wise, with good wheels tyres and brakes, I am unsure of a couple of things:

1) Car appears to have prodrive pack fitted (I think). It has blue Prodrive branded tubing under the hood and a stainless prodrive backbox. Thing is, it has no installation cert. Is this ok?
2) Car has 4 owners!! Guy tells me this is normal on this car, can someone clarify? IMO, 3 years old with 25k this seems waaaay high!
3) More corrosion than I expected, around wheel hubs and suspension. Normal?

Driven it and it pulls fine, clutch is ok and steering is all good. Only other thing would be is it priced right?

Cheers in advance!

not to sure about the rest but its easy to stick a prodrive backbox on and y pipe and sell it as a ppp you can phone the prodrive head office up with chassis number and they will tell you if the ppp is fitted, just beware as it may be priced as a PPP but is not

also mileage seems average to me! owners a bit high but maybe good reasons forsale baby... moving... higher petrol costs!

worth doing a hpi tho as that could be another reason for 4 owners? outstanding finance?

Have you thought about buying an STi?

Better engine, turbo, brakes, gearbox, etc etc

Cheers mate, good advice. I made a note of the chassis number so I will do this tomorrow.

To be honest the main thing is the owners, if its regular on these models then fair enough. just wanna be sure....

No idea about this - but I would want a cert.

You are right to be concerned - that's too many owners in my opinion, it tells you that something is not right about the car .... good cars stay with their owners a long time. Mine is 9 1/2 years old and has had one owner - ME!

Corrosion shouldn't be an issue - was one of the owners living on the coast?

Driven it and it pulls fine, clutch is ok and steering is all good. Only other thing would be is it priced right?

No idea - you should have a better idea than most as you are looking for one

Cheers in advance!

No problems

Thanks everyone, I think I am going to leave this one based on what's been said. If you wanna check it out, its at the car people by in Manchester, on this link:

The Car People | New, nearly new & used cars - Find a car with The Car People

I wouldn't normally dream of going to this type of dealership, but the finance rate was really good plus they offered the best by a long way so far on part ex

I did think about an STI and have seen a couple in my bracket, but (and please prove me wrong) I thought that a WRX would be more economical, easier maintenance and not that different performance wise. Bear in mind this is my first, so go easy if Im way off! Other thing was STI pushes the road tax into £400 a year.

In the real world there is no difference ..... on a track, maybe. But most of us drive a daily trudge where an electric milk float would keep up!
