What is oil pressure supposed to read?
Hi, just a quick question. What is the oil pressure supposed to read. My car reads 100 until hot then it drops to 90, 30 when clutch is depressed. Is it supposed to drop when the clutch is down??? By the way just had a service and the rocker oil seals done as it was leaking.

what does your car idle at?.
Oil pressure should be consistent... Hot or cold.. when was the oil last changed and what oil are you using?
On startup my oil pressure reads 6.5 Bar 94 PSI (Hot Or Cold) if i touch the throttle eg. rev the car pressure Increases. to 9 Bar 130 PSI, it then drops back to 6.5 when i let off... occasionally my car will stall at lights etc this is due to the race cams.. when my idle drops the oil pressure follows suit.. and i have seen it drop as low as 1.5 Bar 21 PSI which is LOW...

My oil pressure is about 100psi on start-up and depending upon the revs etc, will be between 80 and 90psi when driving. It drops to about 35-40psi when idling depending upon the temperature.
It will not be constant hot or cold as the viscosity will reduce as the oil warms up. There has been plenty of threads on this tpoic and your figures seem about right.
M@trix - you figures seem very high except for cold start. As for stalling because of race cams, your mapper should be able to sort that out, there is no reason why it should stall if it is properly set-up. See above, but the pressure should drop as the oil gets warmer.

Mine is the same as scoobyc, my peak reading is about 120, motorway driving at the weekend at 70ish mph was around 90 when hot, drops to 30-40 at lights or junctions etc, using Prosport gauges too.
