2006 wrx still 2.5 drivers help
Hi all,
New to sconbies and got my first on Saturday.
The car is hard to set off in first gear and going in to second which feels like clutch judder. I have to slip the clutch a bit and few more revs on than my other cars. Is this something you guys suffer with that I have addapt to or an issue?

I can stall mine if i dont keep the revs up. if I let the clutch out really slow, its ok but if I let it out like I did on my BMW 330, the car feels like it judders.
I have got in contact with the garage telling them it has clutch judder and the clutch needs changing at a cost of £700.

From all your posts your car sounds like a nightmare, isn't this the one which has turned out to be an import? I'd go and get your money back asap.

Just done a lot of reading up and a lot say, launch the car and it clears it some times? Also, the car is still under Subaru warrenty so could be sorted by them?
with it being an import I have got a toad alarm fitted off the seller and a tracker, all for free.

i believe it is meant to be "any moving part", thats what i was told. just phone them and tell them you want it looking at anyway. i had my rear shocks replaced after 6 weeks of ownership.

The dreadful drive-by wire throttle on hawkeye 2.5 cars.
I could never get a good get away without getting revs to about 1800 rpm before the car was remapped. Below this rpm led to either kangarooing or a stall.
I'd hedge my bets and say its a "feature" of the car.

How come other guys with 06 STI dont have the same issue. Could yours have the clutch issue and the remap just improves? My BMW 330CI was drive by wire and dual mass fly wheel which are a pain and the set off etc was almost totaly smooth. Will try slipping the clutch a bit tomorrow, see if it helps and get it to be looked at by a dealer. If they say its normal, lost nothing, if it is cluctch, they should do it under warrenty?

There have been other threads that mention the poor DBW response, but it may be that many Hawkeye owners just accept it.
I'm coming up to 35k miles in 2 years and there's been no deterioration in the problem, even with a good hike in power output.
See what the dealer says, but I've always found that clutch problems are always claimed as wear n tear issues and not claimable.

I spoke to a dealer on the phone and they are going to look at it tomorrow. I went on the approach of fly wheel damaging the clutch ;0)
On anther side, a guy here has a classic as says his is the same at times. He said drive to 20 mph then dip the clutch a few times. Cleans any build ups off and always fixes his classic.

I did the clutch thing on the way home. Its 70% better. The judder has almost gone. The only issue now is that the clutch seems to me to sensative and you need to rev the car to above 1200 so it sets off smooth. when you go to second gear, the clutch seems to ****** and causes the engine / exhaust to jolt feelling like it hits the car.

I think you just need to get used to driving a scoob, they need to be reved to get them going either that or your clutch control has to be spot on or you will stall it.
Don't go slipping the clutch too much as you'll end up burning it out.
