Default Radar/Camera detectors?

Can anyone recommend a device to help me avoid the many speed traps on our roads? There are loads about so it'll be interesting to hear your views and experiences.

Tomtom is fine, but it's only any good for fixed cameras.

Any suggestions welcomed.

I highly recommend the Cheetah GPS mirror for a few reasons:

1. It clips over your existing mirror and so messy dashboard.
2. You dont have to pay for a subscription to update the detector.
3. It connects to one of thee best radar detector heads wirelessly so again, no messy installation.

Yeah but you'd be even more pissed if it happened to miss the speed camera hiding in the bushes.

Had a Valentine then switched to the Cheetah mirror with Sentinel radar head.

The sentinel picks up just as much as my valentine did with the benefit of being able to individually cancel all the unwanted signals!

Wear a slipper on your right foot instead of a shoe.............lighter weight - less depression of accelerator pedal !!

Only joking..............how about using a "garage door opener" to scatter the signal & one of the detectors mentioned above?

i have a road angel + subscription and works fine for me. the closer you get to a camera, the faster and louder it gets til you get so p****d off you'd wish you hadn't take it with you. if you miss a camera, you should be on a SAGA over 50's holiday and paying about £50 a year insurance to get in the way of every other driver!!

Valentine 1- never knew things like that were around anymore ??!! thought it had went all modern gps style detection nowadays ??!!

even the once much talked about " garage door " openers on here by and large all dried up, was there really some truth that once your car has failed to register a reading on the mobile camera / video then your details were noted and if it was flagged up again as doing the same then you were certain that you / your car would have the once over ??

maybe one off our resident traffic police members could advise ??

anyway , anyone remember the very first radar detectors from the late 70`s - snooper ?? massive solid metal object that sat perched in the middle off the dash !!! not old enough to have driven a car with one fitted back then but always remember looking into cortinas / minis etc and at first wondering what the heck is that thing on the dash !!!!

to be honest would never personally put a traditional based camera detector in the car ever again, anyone who says they dont constantly false alert every few yards is surely kidding themslves- c`mon ??!!

appreciatte that yep the v1 always had great reviews but any owners out there willing to truthfully say that they never switch the thing off due to the number off false alerts ??!!

I switched the Valentine off so much I ended up selling it to a guy in Oz through Ebay. It was thee most annoying thing you could have in a car.

That the beauty of the Cheetah mirror and Sentinel head, you can cancel ALL of those unwanted signals!

Many thanks for all the replies - I shall take careful consideration when purchasing. The slipper sound like the cheapest option! If that fails I'll look at the Cheetah mirror and sentinel head I think.

Cheers again!
