... and for the 7th year it passed without a hiccup ... quite an amazing piece of machinery this Impreza, 93,000 miles, as fast as most things with 4 wheels, reliable to a fault (if not messed about with) ... simply the best automotive product of recent times

Touch wood, mine has only been minor things and always my tinkering (number plates, bulbs that are too white etc).

But I bet you where pacing for an hour like an expectant father though

I does get you like that, doesn't it?

I always, always, present the vehicle well (I have to do 4 a year!) Polished, Hoovered and Serviced .... it might not make a blind bit of difference, but I believe a good looking car puts the MOT Tester in a good mood!

Every year without fail, pacing the viewing area, looking through the window, watching the tester writing notes

Mood doesn't come into it if you've ever met my tester. He is so **** about things like the subaru badge on my number plate - I know it's not legal, but the car is well presented and is never picked up for any roadworthiness issue that is safety related

Mine just went through with the STI rear lights and the Blitz exhaust both of which would be an instant fail according to some 'experts' I know

Yawn !

twelve years in a row here, with two cars, and not a single fault, also messed with loads on the current one.....

P.S. The "nipper" who does my MOT drives an EV*, but fixes loads of classic Scoobs. LOL.
