Default 555 Newbie

I sold my C2 Alpina for a large profit and fancied a change. I wanted forced induction, reliability and character. So there was only one option.......IMPREZA. I come from a Scottish background and wanted a 555 of some description to capture the whole McRae connection.

I've owned the car for about five weeks now and am totally converted. I've spent every spare bit of time replacing, cleaning and modifying my 555 and it's almost complete. My last car took four years to complete so this is a god send!!!.

It's done 48000 miles from new, it will be pampered and cleaned to within an inch of it's life

My baby on a recent trip to Stranraer to see the parentals

My old Girl

I'm looking forward to meeting some other like minded Scooby fans and hope your more down to earth than some of the BMW/Alpina clubs I've been a member of!!!

I'm based near Croydon in Surrey and always give a nod or wave to other Scooby drivers

The ad is here - originally up for £3250 and sold for slightly less to a friend of a friend. Judging from his reaction I think you'd have to pry the keys from his cold, dead fingers

Personally I'm not keen on modifying special editions, though many will no doubt disagree - I just don't see the point in changing the bits that made a car a special in the first place.

Lexus lights belong on a Lexus - definitely not on a Subaru

I need a new catch mechanism for the roof vent as it has a small crack in the plastic latch. Any idea's where I can source one?. I've tried some breakers and ebay but they want to sell the whole roof assembly for over £150. What is the safe operating speed for the roof vent?

It actually says what the upper limit is on the vent itself - 80 km/h IIRC, though it gets very noisy well before that. I only ever really used it in traffic.

Hello and welcome to the club from another 555 owner.

Here's a couple of pictures of mine.

Lovely looking car, I love the clean look, I was going to do the same but the graphics have faded the paint in a few places and no amount of mopping will get rid of it. A lot of the graphics we're missing so I ordered a new 555 kit and slapped it on.

I never lose it in a car park and have had a few people ask if I'm a rally driver ( I wish ). As already mentioned I'm totally blown away by the 555 and it makes my previous cars seem very sensible and the fuel bills are no worse than my 2.7 Alpina! but with twice the performance. Does any body know the official performance figures for a 555?, I've had a couple of blasts with 450 and 500 Chimaera's and been able to stay with them, I thought they would leave me for dead!, then we get to a corner and it's bye bye TVR

It's mechanically the same as any other STI v2, with the same gear ratios.

I've got the 'You and your Subaru' book and it reckons on 0-60mph in 4.6 and top speed of about 150mph, is it really that quick, mines got a performance panel filter and a huge cat back exhaust ( which has a sliding baffle to quieten it down for track use ). My uncle has a 231 bhp RX-8 and he was shocked at how the 555 goes and handles!!!
