Default Scooby noob needing advice on buying pls.

Hi folks new to this forum, so pls excuse if i sound a bit dumb or stupid, anyways i currently own a 54 reg Suzuki Ignis sport, and im after a STI after years of wanting one, the Ignis is to small and to be honest getting bored of it, After a lil reseach, i think iv choosen which varient i want and that is a classic shape saloon face lifted STI about 96-97 reg, but iv seen lots of different versions of these i.e V1,V2,V3 etc which in ur opions would u say is the best refined one and fastest, iv havent got all that much to spend about 4k tops, but really wanna be spending about 3.5k, im nearly 25 and have 5 yrs ncb, so to conclued this all basicly which is the fastest best spec sti i can get for my budget??

Look on sidc.co.uk as they have a list of the different models there.

Heres mine for sale:

Shooting myself in the foot here: but at the moment you could get a 3.5-4k standard v4 sti, but would probably still be restricted, have no alarm, snow tyres? etc.

All classic sti`s are imports. Was never a uk sti version. Well there were something like 14 22B UK`s.

For me if it was a UK classic I would go for an RB5 or a UK2000, The STi is quicker and has the little extras but as above it will be an import, Not that there is anything wrong with imports.
Classic ownership is great, There are so many options open to you. You have all the specials like Catalunya's and terzo's plus the really special specials like P1's.
The intercooler spray as far as I know was a late edition to import STi's on the classic shape and then when you get to V7 and on all the UK STi's have the button.

Its a nice little gimmick but TBH I never had any call for it in my V7 apart from making a spray noise in traffic.
If its noise your after look at a DV!!!!

Its a good time to buy and there is a lot of choice out there, I try to buy club cars like above, Just because I feel someone that has taken the time to become involved in a Subaru community will look after there car better, I have no proof this is the case though

The cats and Terzos are limited, They did the 555's and RB5's in classic shape too, They are all limited run. You can pick most of them up for within your budget and the resale is always safer on a special.
A DV is just my lazy way or typing dump valve. It will give you a nice loud woosh sound when you change gear.
