JDM STI EJ207 turbo options
Hey guys,
I've got a JDM STI hatchback with a EJ207 and twin scroll setup, wanting to start my power journey, and wanting a bigger turbo, my tuner recommended a blouch, but upon him doing a bit more research it seems their rear housing is for a 2.5l instead of a 2.0l so on my EJ it would be really laggy. Anyone have any recommendations for a twin scroll turbo that is made for the 2.0L? Or do I have to change to a single scroll and UEL headers?

oem engine best to stay with factory fitted turbo
twinscroll blouch sc42+ should work with oem 2.0 but discontinued, similar to dom 1.5xtr - both over 2k pounds
vf37 with billet wheel -seen few graphs don't like it
vf36 with billet wheel -1k pounds not bad option
Most of turbo builders are cowboys, delays, excuses like we do not share turbo spec. etc
Other turbos are twin entry due to lag and boost needed forged engine will be best.
cheaper way to 450 horses-around 1200 quid gtx2971r or the same turbo called mdx321t ,lm450-rcm450 ,mdx555 for 2200-2400 pounds
precision based twin entry rcm500- Richard Hammond has their rcm600 fitted produced only 540 horses, not sure dialed back or turbo issues.
For 450-500 horses You will need better top mount intercooler, injectors, fuel pump ,exhaust ,clutch etc
For me best and only way but still need 2.1 engine is owens twinscroll based on vf36 for around 3.5k pounds with ceramic plus 500 quid for turbo speed sensor and not sure on hatch but on newage i need new ecu to work with turbo speed sensor -another 2k pounds for link g4x but I will fit new ecu on my new 2.1l forged engine anyway.
Have a look on raggydoo tread,he ended with syvecs ecu and sc42+ and sold a car ,looks like he had enough.
It's something related to hatch ecu mapping, few other people had the same issues with same mapper where he is very good with newage ecu's.
For owens setup money You could go with rotated twinscroll setup ,that will push You towards 550 horses
Yes for singlescroll setup You will need exhaust ,headers where most stainless unequal are prone to crack within 2 years.
Im to not sure which way to go with my 2.1l-single or twinscroll

I cant see the point in getting a jdm twinscroll, whose oem setup is optimised for " real world" A and B road driving, and then adding a big, laggy turbo so you can have more power above motorway speeds.
As above, you then need the expense of a built 2.1 or 2.35 to enjoy the benefit of said bigger turbos, most of which aren't true twinscroll.
Far better to maximize the power of oem twinscroll, which is capable of an incredibly usable 370bhp, with a few cheaper modifications ie exhaust, fpr , 3 point boost solenoid, actuator. And you still have potential to upgrade oem turbo to 400.
Most importantly, you can then spend the money saved on what really matters, which are tyres, brakes and suspension. If your car is over 60k miles most of your suspension will be shot anyway.
But if beating Golf Rs on the dual carriageway is your thing, go ahead. You'll need £10k plus, or a Golf R.
