Twitchy Back-end

Twitchy Back-end
I have just bought my first Subaru STI on a 04 plate - When pushing it today in pretty good road conditions the back-end kicked out twice is this normal? On my car it has the DCCD which I always have set on zero which I believe is off. The guy who owned it before me said he used to keep it on auto, by putting it on auto should it remedy this problem??????? Or should I put it on 1,2,3 etc settings for the best results?
Also, when changing the diff controller should I be stationery or moving or does it not matter?
Thats it for now - I hope you can help?
Andy

AFAIK, you can change DCCD while moving.
If you have it on manual and on 0 - I assume thats fully open? If so you have more power going to the back wheels than the front - not sure what the % is on newage cars. This is why its stepping out at the back.
Is the car an Import then?

I believe that this DCCD is quite rare on a 04 STI????? It has also got black STI interior which again is rare??
I am not 100% sure if this car was meant to go to Malta but stopped in this country its very confusing. I have posted pictures of my car in the Scoobynet general section under "Pics of my new toy" or something along those lines, I think currently it is on the 2nd page.
Thanks very much

Leave it in auto, you can move the dial as much as you like on that and it wont change a thing but you need to learn how it drives, it does feel weird to start with, but you get use to it. Also check your tyre pressures and tread, cold tyres are not good in these conditions, and dont try to over correct the car, the dccd will do that for you on auto

Have a look under the rear of the car, can you see an aftermarket ARB ? Red, blue or silver may indicate a stiffer rear bar has been added to kill the understeer.
May be adjustable, soften for the wet/cold weather.
Hope this may help.
