Battery
This winter seems to be the death of my battery .... I have got it through the last 2 winters with it bleeping at me - I think now is the end
8 1/2 years and about 20,000 starts isn't bad I presume?
So I have the luxury of finding the right battery at the right price, I had better do some research now.
What are your recommendations? How much? (Halfords are around £75 I think?) which make?
As an aside what is the main dealer price for an original ... they do seem brilliant.

Halfords are reasonable if you have a trade card, which I do. You live too far away though:

Cheers, just contacted my local battery supplier - Berkshire Batteries, they were, in the past, really competitive on price .... seems not now!
They state two different types:-
a 005 and a 068
The 005 at £72 + VAT and the 068 at £89 + VAT!
I'm digging my battery charger out at those prices! I suppose I'll just have to bite the bullet

Try Euro Car Parts in Reading.
I put a Bosch S6 in my scoob just before xmas.
Good spec and a lifetime warranty for as long as you own the car.
Price will probably be about £70

"Since the majority of automotive customers are mounting the battery in the engine bay of the vehicle, a temperature of 80 degrees most closely represents the mean of temperatures when the battery will be used"
I would suggest that most automotive batteries need to deliver their cranking power at a LOT LESS THAN 80 degrees!! I think a value nearer 35 degrees would be correct!!
