Default ALWAYS HPI YOUR CAR B4 YOU BUY

been trying to sell my car and got an email asking how much damage has it had so after a few emails i did a check and it has been registered as a cat c!!!!!!

so now im furious and kinda feel stupid for not doing a check before but i never have and ive had about 30 cars in 10 years!!

anyway took it to a local garage today and they put it on there super dooper lazer jig and measured all the major points to manufactures specs and its all fine.
cant see what damage it has had so the repair has been top work although it has a blob rear bumper and lights which i wouldnt of known about as im not really up to scratch with newage models as im more of a classic nut.

so now how will this effect the price?? big time or not a great deal

ALWAYS HPI IT FIRST!! ive learnt a very valuable lesson

Where did you buy it from chap? Did you ask the seller about damage? Got a copy of the ad? Did you get it from a dealer? If so you might have grounds for a claim against them. I would say it reduces the price by at least a grand...

I thought it should state on your registration document if its been a Cat C
It may knock 20% off re-sale value.

Bottom of the 1st page it should be and they Always stamp it if its cat c!

I would contact DVLA and see if its true because sometimes there are mistakes. IMHO

Cat D they don't stamp so maybe that. BUT on these so called HPI reports you can enter info true or false about the cars then it shows up for the next person.

It's like my VW Passat it says that it has done 205k within 6 months and I know for a 100% fact that's not true, It's because you can enter info you find "True or false" on these ****ty hpi reports!

DVLA is the best idea matey and get them to send you a copy of the report of whys it's a cat c or d if it is...

Good luck matey!

its more than 20%,,, should you ever have a insurance claim it will take off 50% of the value !!!

also if its a write off it cant be bought back a second time,,, so cant strip the parts to sell on which is another issue

mart you had a issue with your other car didnt you aswell

if ever you need a HPI then contact me and ill sort one for you FOC as i hate seeing people with bad luck

Also it will be in "Part" 3 Special Notes

Did you get the log book from dvla into your name or is an old logbook you haven't swapped over yet and maybe in trade name ?

If you got it from DVLA into your name then i think its going to be a mistake and it's them bull**** hpi reports!

Did you hpi with rac as that's the best 1 imho and that's what i use every week ?
