Default Oil pressure gauge

Guys,

I bought the 3 stepper gauge combo from xyber autos, really cracking wee gauges, i got oil pressure, oil temp and boost, fitted all the senders etc, using the adapter bits that can be bought from scoobybits.com, everything went in fine, did a bit of testing for leaks no issues.

Did the wiring yesterday, most of it was plug and play, the only actual wiring that needs done is each gauge has a constant live, ignition live and an earth.

I wrapped all three together and attached to a single wire then wired them as so

Earth = Ciggy lighter earth - Black wire with silver spots
Constant live = Ciggy lighter live
Ignition live = stereo yellow wire (acc)

The oil temp and boost work perfectly and the oil pressure seemed to play the game after i had swapped the wires round on the sender but turning the lights on causes the oil pressure to drop 2 bar, then once its warmed up it sits at 0, i know its not accurate as the subaru one is still plumbed in and its rather happy with itself.

Anyone got any ideas on what might be up? Duff gauge, duff sensor?

Ive been through all the joins with electrical tape, everything is insulated to the hilt!

Cheers in advance

Ross

The senders need to be earthed if you used PTFE tape on the threads its maybe not earthing properly have heard of a few people having this problem.
Worth a try

What year's the Scoob? Only ask as UK classic ciggy lighters are not wired constant live but switched live. Probably only effect memory settings tho.

That's cool, only checking. Have had 4 UK scoobs and rewired ciggy lighters constant live to power accessories with ignition off.

Obviously JDM machines different then

Also. Where have you mounted them? I have a v4 so they were going to go in a pod on the dash. Plastic flocked pod i rekon.

Had a look the night, still not 100% on how its back being functional, theres still a drop when i switch the lights on but its minute, there does appear to be a connection with the stereo going crackly and the gauge playing sill buggers but everything behind the stereo is well insulated.

Use of PTFE tape is deffo not reccomended

I have a set of these arriving tomorrow so i'll monitor this post and also let you know how i get on wiring mine up.

Quick hijack here sorry, i also have am air/fuel ratio gauge, does anyone know where i connect the sender wire to? I'm not the most mechanically minded so directions like "just behind the big black thingy" would be awesome lol

cheers

Jonny

Sorry to be noob again.

Im confused about what is supplied and what is best. I take it what is supplied with the gauges is insufficient and i should buy the ones from scooby parts too

So this is what i should buy:
http://www.xyberautos.com/catalog/pr...roducts_id=518
Gauges &

Oil Temp Adapter
Scoobyparts Ltd OIL TEMPERATURE ADAPTOR

Oil Pressure Fitting
Scoobyparts Ltd OIL PRESSURE T-PIECE

Boost Gauge Fitting Kit
Scoobyparts Ltd TURBO GAUGE FITTING KIT

So do i need all the bits above. Do i need the sandwich adapter. Im after the best/easiest/most reliable install.

If so ill go ahead and order.

Sorry i know nothing, i haven't touched the engine on this car yet, this is my first turbo too.

Thanks for the help!

You don’t need the Turbo fitting kit as that is already included in the Prosport gauges.
You don’t need a sandwich plate as the other 2 adaptors you listed do a better job
