Mooser - Is that a real fish? Does anyone keep fish? Not much of a meal for a Pirahna fish

JJ, you said the novelty wears off. How do you mean? The novelty of keeping them alive or the novelty of looking at them. I have decided that I like little ones in shoals, if they grow to big I can feed them to my cats LOL

the novelty initially lay with (in descending order of importance) the following items:

1)something new that included new gadgets that had 3 pin plugs - i.e. - 240v appliances.

2)possibility of owning carnivorous fish (rapidly lose this interest when you consider feeding costs/cleaning tank hazards)

3)tank cleaning is as often as your car gets cleaned and takes at least as long. (i.e. five minutes once a week or 3 hours once every six months)

4)they give little or no entertainment when compared with the cathode ray tube.

5)words like fin rot, snails, algae, chlorine, filter are all suddenly familiar!

buy something else for the cash e.g. air filter or beer (the air filtter makes this thread scooby related and therefore valid in this forum )
