I just put my 2005 STI PPP up for sale yesterday.
Subaru : Subaru Impreza WRX STI Type uk PPP
Think I've priced it to sell.
Got a phone call yesterday afternoon, within minutes of the advert going live. Guy wanted to view it last night, 6:30pm. Thought great.
Went to see my boss to ask for a couple hours off work (car was filthy) to get it sorted. Got the time off. Washed, dusted, hoovered the car. Looked spotless. Guy didn't show.
Just hope I don't have the same hassle as my old man had selling his RS4. Got about 20 calls wanting to see his car. Not one person turned up

I also stayed at home all afternoon on Sunday only for a prospective buyer to no-show. Don't mind if they call and say they're not coming but that just sucks
Looks like i'll be keeping hold of it now
Subaru : 2001 "51" Subaru Impreza WRX. Silver 71
Any comments on the price? Best offer i've had via email so far (no viewings) was £4000

When we tried to sell our mint MR2 Roadster at the start of last summer (5 years old with 15,000 dry miles) we didn't attract even one serious prospective buyer, even although we were asking one of the lowest prices on Autotrader. We ended up selling it to a friend cheap as it was reaching the point where we were practically giving it away. I dread to think how much harder it would be to sell the Scoob in the current market...

I think some people need to think about how they are calculating their asking prices. We're now half way through 2008. Earlyish newage cars are now OLD. Just because the model hung around for a long time and basically the same car was availble from dealers this year does not change the fact that you are trying to sell an old car. When you factor in the enormous running costs and the lack of money around at the moment you're going to have to start being a little more realistic.
Amazingly, the easiest cars to sell are the oldest ones because Kevin and Perry et al can afford to buy and run them while they're still single and at home with mum and dad. For anything else I would get down to my dealer and do some serious haggling to get rid of it in part exchange. Unfortunately, many people have such a hatred of dealers that they would rather spend months trying to squeeze a few hundred quid extra out of a private sale than do the sensible thing.
