Default Bit of advise please

Hello All

Im Gemma 21 an from Scotland

I am going to look at an Impreza on Saturday

1.8gl 4wd

I cant afford to insure any other impreza an i have just passed my test this year.

I am able to insure the 1.8 tho :-)

I know i will get a slating as its a lookalike/wannabe of the turbo but i cannot insure one at all and dont want to be on "daddys" insurance an have a turbo to be honest

Now down to the real stuff

What will it be like on fuel?

I currently have Vectra SRI 1.8 130bhp would it be worse?

What would it get roughly to the gallon?

Any other bad points to the 1.8 bar it not being to fast

Sorry for the "blonde" questions

Thanks for your time

Gemma

Know bugger all about the 1.8gl but.....it wont be as quick as your Vectra anyway.....

Subaru Impreza Saloon - 1.8 GL 4WD 4d - Facts & Figures - Parker's

I cant see the exhaust helping much but it will handle better with the WRX

Is it the Classic model?

Welcome, Gemma.

Fuel consumption won't be far off your Vectra, but performance WILL be inferior. depends how you drive it too.

Reliability? How long's a bit of string? depends on your luck, how the car's been treated, how YOU treat it, etc.

NOT cheap to maintain, or to service though, not compared to a mainstream car like a VX or a Ford.

Good luck with it, anyway.

got any pics of the car? regarding reliability, it has been dressed up to look like something it isn't, make sure the seller seems honest about it, ask them about performance and if they say things like "i nail vectra sri's all the time" chances are it has been thrashed to **** so walk away and find one owned by an old biddy!

5t.

Insurance wise you will get stung by the mods .... worth checking out first as it may not be a big difference in cost to a basic wrx !!

A friend uses an Impreza 1.6 wagon as a tow car.

Averaged 33mpg (when not towing the race car), not quick at all, but not slow, the 1.8 doesn't have much more power than the 1.6, but is torquier, that was one thing sadly lacking.

Rockapes who knew no better still tried to steal it, so with it dressed as a WRX, you will need WRX levels of security.

I can't imagine the insurance compnay liking the fact its got all the WRX bits on it, make sure you get a quote with them all on as it may well put you off.

Make sure you get security documentation with the car, your insurance will be needing these !

And welcome to Scoobynet !

I had a 2.0 Sport as a company car once and whilst 125bhp isn't a lot, it has plenty of grip, so off the line it's 'quite' quick. Yours won't be as fast as the Vectra, but will be more fun. Enjoy.
