I am new to scoobynet so fogive me if I am covering old ground. But recently my Sti v4 had it's rear spoiler and front fog lamp covers stolen. The Christmas spirited people shafted the lock on the boot and unscrewed the spoiler. Has this happened to anyone else out there? Can anything be done to prevent it happening again? Please do not suggest the obvious e.g leaving the car at home and walking!!!
The car is alarmed.
Whats most annoying the spoiler is probably now fitted to a Nissan Bluebird.

sorry to hear your news...

I heard that someone wired the spoiler to their alarm somehow?

Wonder if it could be linked into an alarm plunger thing like they put on bonnets?

ta,
Matt

Jonnyboy

Nice to see a fellow Lancs man on the board.

Shame about the spoiler, must have piss3d you off - I doubt there is anything you can do about it other than rounding the screws off inside the boot so they cant take it, or removing the boot lock and moving to remote

How does the spoiler attach to the boot? Bolts, screws or something else?

I've seen Philips screws which have a special head. Once in, they don't come out without a drill.

Chris.

people have been known to hack the spoiler off, failing that they'll just take the boot

A proximity alarm might help. If anyone gets too close to my car, they get a little surprise

I was thinking of something like an automatic mace spray

or how about deep heat in the eyes!

seriously tho, one thing that I thought would be cool would be a coded alarm whereby you have the cat 1 as standard and a keypad. This needs a code entering BUT...

I've got one of those RSA security tags with the number that changes every 30 seconds...would be dead cool if that could be used somehow...

A Clifford Dual zone shock sensor fixed to the underneith of the boot.
Sensor output 1 wired to a mini siren so there every time theres slight vibration,,obviously not to slight the siren will sound for approx 1 sec..
Sensor output 2 wired to the alarm so on a harder shock the alarm will sound.
Works very well once adjusted correctly.
