Default Whats this inside? - 2001 WRX

Hi All,

I'm looking at getting back into the Scooby game and looking at a 2001 WRX tomorrow - on the pics of the car i've noticed something i've never spotted before (certainly wasn't on my last scooby) - below is a pic can anyone tell what it is? The Car does has a tracker (i've never experienced one before) but i assume they are black boxes located in the boot.

DONT PUSH IT IN TILL YOU READ THE REST OF MY POST!!!!!!

its a gearbox lock, you should have a key that fits in it, if not don't touch it cos you'll lock your gearbox

if you do have the key, when you park up, put it in reverse (might be another gera though) and then push it in to lock the gerbox

Too eager! Thanks Tidgy!

Wow i've never experienced one before - I hope the garage has the key - as it sounds like it'll give me piece of mind when parking it somewhere.

Are these common?

It's a Diplock locking device (as tidgy says), I've never seen one in the flesh only in adverts.

Aftermarket gear **** and stereo too LOL

Any other pics ?

For some reason my photobucket has locked so no more pics at the mo - will get soem up if everything goes well tomorrow - it's a silver 2001 WRX bugeye - with headlight conversion and BK multi spoke alloys. looks very clean example, 55k on the clock, 2 owners full history. Fingers crossed its decent in the flesh.

They seem like a "neater" version of the multilock - strange this is the first i've ever heard of them. Sounds like a nice idea tho.

Thanks for your help lads.

Had one of these on my last classic

Great bit of kit, as well as locking the gearbox in reverse, you also couldn't start the car in reverse gear it also had an electrical cut out as well
