plz help mewith my cam belt change

Default plz help mewith my cam belt change

had to take the belt off 4 times each time car wouldnt start but turned over nicely, with the odd splutter,,,,,ive been lining the pulley marks up with the marks on the plastic guard behind them......or am i meant to be using the marks on pulleys with the lines on the cam belt ,,,,,,any help will be grateful

Er, no kidding, get a mechanic in there and quick! that isn't a job for the uninitiated dude.

both! the double lines on the pulleys have to face each other and you then should find that with the dotted line on the cambelt goes on the crank and each line on the belt should line up with the single line on each pulley

£10 says the OP comes on tomorrow with a post saying 'my engine went bang after I changed the belts, how can I fix it'

Seriously though, if you compare the cost of getting someone who knows what they are doing to fit it ( and the peace of mind ) with the cost of an engine rebuild I know where my money would be going.

Make sure you use the line on the crank sprocket and not the triangle.
