I am looking at buying a STI Type R and have came across a 1999 STI 5 in cool grey metallic.
Haven't seen one this colour in the flesh, any one got any comments about it ....... or should I wait to see if a sonic blue one turns up? or are these too common?
The seller is looking for offers around £14,000, it's done 13,100 miles, Clifford alarm, tracker & was personally imported new buy the seller, serviced by Roger Clark Motorsport. Is this a reasonable price?

I reckon the Cool Grey ones look rather fine and special in themselves. The blue ones can obviously be more easily made to look more P1/22Bish but it's up to you, they're both very nice

Coolgrey and Sonic blue were the 2 colours I had difficulty in choosing for my scoob. In the end after a month of comparing and changing my mind, I went for the Sonic blue and for the sole reason that at night, under some lights, you can see some shades of green and aqua and white around the curves of the car such as the bumpers. The coolgrey looked a bit plane under lights. These were the extremes I went to in deciding cos it was that hard for me. A year and a half later, no regrets. I made the right choice IMHO. Cool grey is my 2nd choice still.
Cheers,
Wrexy.

And in the sun the blue pales into nothing and the cool grey oes mega metallic and all the lines of the car are shown off.
Blue is a girls colour. Hence the P1 was blue.
Hehe. OOOOOOOO
I'm kidding before anyone starts. Apart from the P1 thing

Manly? Manly used to be the top rugby league side back in OZ
Although my Favourite beach is Freshwater..
But it is nice to sit in the Italian Caff at the south end of Bondi on a Sunday morning.. with a nice espresso, some bruschetta and the morning papers

You're making me hungry and jealous Richard. Must go back there soon. Although we won't find Manly Rugby League club again, Northern Eagles now.
Cheers,
Wrexy.
Oh I almost forgot, it's not called steel blue metallic, it's called blue steel metallic.

Just my ten penies worth...but I've got a 99sti Type-R in black and it looks bloody tops!!!
In the sun you can see the red metelic in the paint which is cool, plus I have only seen one other black Type-R so its fairly unique.
Also the 'PIMPted' windows aren't quite as bad when there the same colour as the bodywork.
But hey, any Type-R is gonna be the biz.......Enjoy!!!
Tony.

Ay Ay Ay Ay Ay!!! There's those green and blue and aqua colours I was talking about. Looks like they show up in the sun too. Just look at Dan The Mans photo. Brilliant looking colour, don't you think?

Yes very nice colour is that a normal type R or is it a special edition?
Every body has commented on the colours but what about the price, offers of around 14K for a 1999 Type R with 18,000 miles what ya all think?

ha, ok I get the point, you like the blue & I must admit it does look the dogs, but what are my chances of being able to find a V-limited? as the other Blue Type R's I have seen looks a little darker. (I think)

Hi Rob,
I think that is the usual 'Sonic Blue' colour. My car was photo'd later that day (it was very sunny, well we were in wales) next to it, you can sort of compare colours
Phil.
