main dealers... good or bad?
Hello people, ive just had subaru serviced at a main dealer 50k service 3 weeks ago...... today i drove it for the 4th time since the service and noticed the temp was higher than normal ie above the half way point...... and i couldnt hear the fans running? after looking i noticed that the radiator fans hadnt been connected!!!! after speaking to the dealer i was told that the amount of water on the roads could have knocked the clip loose? i find this hard to believe,as the two seperate connecters were no where new ie one was connected to the raiator housing and the other was behind the radiator pipe work ,as i pushed the fittings together it clicked and a retaining lug was visable.....and that the car has a sump tray which would stop the water getting to the clip, i spoke to carnetix at melton and they made me aware that a 50k service this clip is disconneted and the rad is removed, but after telling the garage what i had seen and been told they was'nt interested.... as i travel over an hour to the main dealer and pass two subaru specialists on the way i just feel a bit diapointed that a 50k service costing £380 which could have caused major problems!!!!! i was just wondering if any of you guys have had this sort of a problem?

After a Main Dealer Service costing £665 I found the radiator tap was cross threaded and leaking coolant all over. Subaru Assistance didn't want to touch it incase the radiator was craked. Apprentices do most of the Service work.

I had great service from Bowetts in Leeds and Chapmans in Pickering. Both lost their franchises.
Brecks in York forgot a washer when they replaced my rear shocks under warranty. Be using RE Motorsport in the future after great service recently.

There are good and bad, as you would expect.
I bought mine from Monty's in Sheffield, no complaints at all the service was great.
I've had a few bits of work done by Bruce and co. at Walldonway in Kent, so far excellent. They also specialise in TVR and seem to genuinely know their stuff.
Would still be interested to know of a good specialist in SE London if anyone could recommend one...

Haven't been to my Subaru dealer for years now, I've found a local specialist who actually care about the car that they are working on.
For this garage to suggest that a clip they had to remove and replace was missing due to water on the road is absolutely ludicrous. I can see a lot of dealers going down the pan now anyway, rubbish service combined with the pig ugly new Impreza should finish them off!

I regularly use Adams in Aylesbury. They're good. Never had a problem as far as I can remember. But they're expensive. Still, they don't have problems with me supplying my own parts, which is good of them.
