Default Newbie with Prodrive question

Hello everyone,

Last weekend I bought myself my first Scooby, a 2003 WRX Estate (Needed it to be reasonably practical).

I have to confess, it wasn't my first choice, but as soon as I'd been on the test drive I just had to have it!

When I got it home, I was looking through the service booklet and stapled to the back is a card saying that it has had a prodrive performance pack fitted.

Am I right in thinking this means it has 261 bhp instead of 221? Is there any other way I can confirm is has been fitted (Short of sticking it on a dyno?)

Thanks in advance! - Tim

yes sounds like it 265 bhp
look at the exhaust, to see if it has prodrive stamped on it and it should be a single pipe, instead of the usual 2 pipes

most obvious signs are the exhaust and the intercooler hose. The standard exhaust is a twin pipe exit, whereas the prodrive is just a single 3" pipe. It'll have prodrive written across the top

Also, the prodrive intercooler hose is blue with prodrive written on it - have a look under the bonnet. The ECU will have also been replaced, but i'm not sure how to tell them apart.

oh, and welcome - i've got the ppp on my wrx and love it

edit/ beaten to it!

Contact Prodrive with your chassis number, they will be able to confirm if they've fettled with it

Thanks guys. It definately has the Prodrive tail pipe, I'll have a look under the bonnet tomorrow morning for the prodrive hose.

It certainly explains a lot. When I was test driving it I was thinking: "Jesus this is quick!". (Although my last car was an old Audi A4 1.8 so anything would have seemed rapid)

God I love the noise it makes. I haven't got this excited about a car since my first car when I was 17 (A 1983 Nova SR - Heh heh!). My friends think I am having an early mid-life crisis and my wife keeps tutting and shaking her head cos I keep going on about it.

Your local dealer should be able to check on there system or ring Subaru UK

Prodrive only develop the kits they don't fit them or keep records of who has the kit

If its got a round Prodrive branded exhaust its almost defo PPP which basically means it will have 261bhp and will 'worry' STI's. After experiencing WRX, WRX PPP and STI PPP would prob choose WRX PPP. STI PPP too twitchy and did not seem much quicker than the WRX PPP though it was!
