Ok People

Just had a call that tells me that I have a NIP for 96 mph on M4 in Margam on 26th Nov.

Now I remember that stretch of motorway (its mainly 50mph) and was congested. So I'm only doing 50 to 55 with the rest of the crowd.

My question is how do I prove that the "evidence" is corrupt/tampered with.. ???? Coz it's definitely wrong..

Now... the 86 on the A465 the day before... Well, OK ya got me

Depends on how you were measured. You can request the photo's and then count the distance between the markers.

Hi Rich,

I'm guessing you've been knocked off with a laser. Very difficult to prove any error with them (especially after the event). One guy tried and it ended up costing him £15000 in legal fees alone

If you mail me off line with a few more of the details I'll see if I can help (for a go in the RS200 of course )

Cheers

S

Question

Rich,

cant you send them your US driving licence!?
even if they do add points, surely they count for nothing in US!?

Rich

I'm willing to bet that you were lasered just AFTER margam (where the limit is 70) and there was indeed an unmarked police van with a laser set up inside the side door. It was on the first bridge after the Margam slip road.

The 50mph limit section is before Margam.

We were travelling behind the FIA safety vehicles cruising at about 70-75mph (even though, there was a 50mph sign showing in the central reservation lights).

I've not had anything through the post yet (touch wood) so I guess he didn't have it set at this lower limit-more like 85-90mph i expect. Which may explain your NIP....

I saw that van richard, sneeky buggers, it was overlooking the 50 Zone, fortunately when i hit that stretch we had the mother of all hailstorms so only a complete loonatick was doing over 50. I remenber you arived at margam 30 mins before we passed by, so you would have been in clear weather.

Been a lot of reports on here about speed traps during the rally and people getting NIP's.

I hope i dont get one because we werent exactly hanging about.

Yeah it must have been later on because i was definitely not doing the reported speed (96) in either of the 50 zones. Well I'm not that stupid Yeah Yeah felstead you can shut ya cakehole right now

Ah well I'll just have to take it like a man as the actress said to the bishop.

StuartH or anyone know if the service within 14 days is to the address of the car or to the actual driver?

Yep, there was a laser being used on the first bridge over the M4 at Margam, on the way to Cardiff. It was there as I left, just after the top 20 drivers had gone through. Lucky for me the road was pretty busy so prob 80 max at the time.

If the search function was working (!) you could search for previous advice on NIPs - someone was saying contest it 'cos the plod cant be bothered with the hassle.

Good luck.
