Default should i be worried

In the last day ive noticed that my 02 sti sounds like it has a vta dump valve. Its not overly noisy but it never sounded like that before.
The only recent changes ive made are the addition of a prodrive backbox and green panel filter.
Anyone any ideas or is this normal.

The Green filter will allow the sound of the dump valve to be heard more easily than the standard item. Are you getting more induction noise when you accelerate as well?

not alot, performance is certainly not affected. It has only really happened since i put the panel filter in but i wouldnt of expected a panel filter to increase dv noise.
it does sound good though

Panel will increase it slightly, check the airbox lid is seated/sealed properly and the same for the filter.

I wouldn;t worry mate....

If performance isn't affected then the chances are it's just the panel filter. Just replaced the stock STi filter in mine with a Green one and the sound now generated is very noticeable indeed!

Did you put in a green cotton filter?

I've also noticed an increase in noise from the O.E. dumpvalve after swapping my K&N panel filter to a green item. It sounds quite good.

fitting a panel filter will increase the noise of your recurculating dumpvave quite a bit its just 1 of those things. put the normal filter back in and see if it goes back to normal. i bet it does. i prefer the noise with the uprated filter in. it will be even louder with an induction kit in.
