You're lucky the prisons are full, as that's a sure fire custodial sentence!
I think that you're looking at a ban of 6 months or more - or is that the other speeding thread?

were you overtaking?
sure the highway code states you may exceed limit whilst overtaking aslong as you return to correct speed once you're passed
or maybe i was dreaming!

60 on your clock is probably only 55 real and they might have taken a lenient view. I'd have thought that without access to photographic evidence (ie proper camera van) they'd need to stop you to make anything stick.
Monkeysan, I'm sure you're dreaming.

I have 9 points on my licence now (3 lots of SP30)
I saw somewhere recently that they are reviewing the way the points are applied, i.e. an SP30 would still carry a £60 fine but only 1 point ... Apparently there are so many people in the same situation as me ... is all well and good having these cash cows ... sorry safety cameras ... in so many places generating massive amounts of revenue, but the government failed to appreciate how many people would end up losing their licences as a consequence ... I wonder if they will revoke my points if the graduated points system comes in? - I wish!!! ... and pigs will fly.
I know many people will say that as I was actually speeding and therefore breaking the law, I got what I deserved etc, but after my last lot of points I have done the same journey on the same stretch of road many times and the speed I was clocked at was actually less than the average speed on that road ... Call me a cynic but you have to question the supposed "safety" element of these cameras
Fingers crossed Rig that you get a lucky break and don't get an NIP

As above, an indicated 60 ~true 55 < 50+10%+2 = 57mph. So you will be very unnlucky to get done. However if you were the only law breaker that day then unlucky, quotas have to be reached.
