For anyone travelling to Cardiff for the rally please note Cardiff is one of six designated areas in Britain for speed cameras trials. Therefore they are everywhere, especially on the approaches to the city centre.

The police around here also have a little Vauxhall van (dark blue) with a removable rear window. This has a laser camera mounted inside. You will NOT see it until it is too late. It is often parked in an inconspicious place approx 200-300 yards past a Gatso camera to be able to zap you when speeding up after passing it.

You have been warned!

I must agree with Chip here, and most of you probably don't need telling anyway, but there is already a large police presence in the rally area.

I was in Cross Hands area today (between Brechfa / Swansea area and saw many police cars all parked up with radar / laser guns.

Is it a coincidence that there was also a large number of recce cars in the area today? I think not.

Don't be easy pickings chaps-BE CAREFUL OUT THERE!!!!!!

The other really, really obvious thing that doesn't need pointing out is be careful where you park for two reasons.

Thanks for the warning Chip, and chiark I think your comments are 'too true'

I'm always cautious during the Rally as it is always crawling with Plod, especially in Wales!

Don't think there will be too much speeding on the A470 on Friday, it will be slower than during the fuel protest!

Take it easy out there, don't try racing about to get in more stages than is practical as that is what they will be looking for.

The thing is Charlie,come friday its hard not to try and pack in as many stages as possible and as you said mate that is when they will get you.I seen a unmarked car a few months ago,it was an unmarked vectra and it was pulled in on the lay by but the officer had the bonnet in the up position so from a distance it looked like it was just an innocent vectra with mechanical troubles but it wasnt because hewas pointing a hand held laser out at the traffic coming up from behind.Nearly impossible to see him.
