My local Sainsburys (Peterborough) is offering 10p per litre off any fuel, if you spend at least £40 in store. And they stock SUL.

That makes it 76.9p per litre, and a cash saving of a £iver per tank full. Put another way, it pays for a bottle of Millers Octane Plus and huge bag of pick 'n' mix sweeties!

The token says it's valid until January 01 at 'participating stores'.

It's actually on a sliding scale how much you save.... 10p per litre is only if you spend over £150 in the store in one transaction...

You can save between 2p and 10p depending how much you spend.

Also, the promotion is only at selected stores (approx 100 sites I think).

(I work for Sainsbury's by the way )

Last time I was at the Safeway near me, they were doing 10p off per litre on all fuel if you spend £40 or more in the store.

IIRC, my local Safeway doesn't stock Super.

GMT, I dare say it varies from store to store (and since there's a turf war 'round my way with Tescos, maybe we get the best deal) but the geeza at the check-out said you get one 10p-off token for every transaction over £40. I spent £110 and the guy said, yes, if I'd put it through in two separate transactions I'd get two tokens, so either you or he is wrong.

Sorry I can't check the details as I've just cashed my voucher. (Got £4.60 off and have a hooj bag of calories to munch on my way to Birmingham in the morning.)

But I was wrong on one point. SUL is 86.5p at Sainsburys Peterborough, not 86.9 as I originally said.

Hoppy

PS How much margin is there on fuel these days? I thought at least 99.99p in every £1.00 was duty! This has surely got to be a loss leader for Sainsburys, but who cares, they've now got my business. And Tescos don't even stock SUL.
