Dont think of yourselves as poorer cousins, think of it this way...
You've got the AWD, the road handling...
BUT, you dont have the extreme insurance bills we have to pay!! so i'd say richer cousins if anything
rgds, Alex 'wondering why his insurance payments almost match his HP payments'
NOTE: to be fair, my current insurer has got me the cheapest and best cover.. I have been a little accident prone in the past

gpimp - I totally agree with it being under-estimated.. but only in the following condition:
Have it under half a tank... or even have it under a quarter of a tank of SUL and it has alot better performance.
Shame you can't do anything at all to the engine to get it better though except the full exhaust system.

Hos, thought about a SS backbox, ran it past my dealer who gave it the thumbs-up, though I don't know about the warranty if it came to the crunch. Why does the backbox cost more for the Sport than the Turbo?
SUL is a new one on me, need more info.
By the way, getting to test drive a P1 on Wed, fine dealer chap that he is!

I have a different backbox on the car but i'm about to go for a scoobysport i think, if i do i want a downpipe , centre de-cat and backbox.. otherwise i won't get any better performance than what i have now. Warrnanty wise - you won't have any probs.
If you test the P1 , you won't want the sport. I've test drove a uk turbo and it was ok, but we have a wrx sti v2 and its a downer driving the wrx then going back to the sport. oh well , 1.5 years till i get a high performance car!

biggest improvement you can make to a sport, fit 16" wheels and bridgestone SO2 PP tyres, awesome.
i am gonna take my sport to the nurburgring next year, see if i can get a sub 9 mins out of it

well, i jump from a bonkers westfield turbo or a 22B and i still love driving my sport!!
I can make that thing dance on a twisty road, its so much lighter than a turbo, isnt much around that can keep up.

John - I have a set of 16" turbo alloys c/w bridgestones which I used on my last Sport, 98MY, tramlined allover the damn shop. Don't know if they will be going on this car yet. Part worn, plenty miles left on them.
Hos - agree with what you said about post P1 test, I've driven a few turbos and must admit I value my licence more!

I used to own a Sport. Traded it for a Turbo. I enjoyed them both. I won't repeat the obvious.
On the acknowledgment front (Dave T-S), today flashed a V or W DBM 5 door Sport..Ignored, a white P Reg turbo.... ignored.
Flashed an L Legacy saloon with a bonnet scoop type thing, got a cheery wave.
Now what do you make of that?

GMAY,
I've been waiting to find someone with an ITG panel filter on a MY99 for such a long time!!
Quick question, does it give any better performance? or do you notice any difference? I e-mailed prodrive to find out about an induction kit for it, but they just told me that the original filter is really big and that no other makes any difference to the car... I would love to hear your comments?

i bet they were the OEM RE010 Bridgestones, i had the same problem with them too.
I melted them at MIRA so had to buy some new tyres, i replaced them with S02 PP's and have not looked back, transformed the car completely!!

As far as i'm aware , it depends on the backbox, but i think the prodrive one does fit. I have a turbo backbox on mine.. but am thinking about a scoobysport , with a decat centre and downpipe if it can fit?
Interested in finding out about the ITG filter though
