The turbo boys are fine and offline they wave most of the time http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

SPJ 13 November 2000 08:55 AM

DEEDEE,

Don't worry mate, you're not on your own.Mine's an MY98 in Reddish Blue.

I know we seem like the poor relations sometimes. The Turbo boys don't really mean it.Do they?????

Steve

Kev 13 November 2000 10:27 AM

davrhod 13 November 2000 02:19 PM

My wife`s got one, its a great car.I still prefer my turbo though.

gpimp 13 November 2000 04:33 PM

I'm on my 2nd sport in 2yrs, a Mica Black Special job, just run-in. One of the most underestimated cars on the road IMHO.

sport special 13 November 2000 04:38 PM

I just bought a sport special last week

mica black, spoiler, seats, white dials, momo wheel.

They have only made 200 of these special editions

They are well cool

Paul

DrEvil 13 November 2000 06:02 PM

Dont think of yourselves as poorer cousins, think of it this way...

You've got the AWD, the road handling...

BUT, you dont have the extreme insurance bills we have to pay!! so i'd say richer cousins if anything http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

rgds, Alex 'wondering why his insurance payments almost match his HP payments' http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

NOTE: to be fair, my current insurer has got me the cheapest and best cover.. I have been a little accident prone in the past http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

I have a MY00 1.6 Impreza that is an exact copy of the impreza sport in every way imaginable.Fools almost everyone except people who actually own Sport and they say things like why does the tax disc say its a 1.6 and then they go and look underneath and say wheres the rear diff.

Dave T-S 13 November 2000 08:53 PM

Yes we all wave - then we pass and say "bugger - no bonnet scoop - Can't believe I waved at a bloody Sport!!!!" http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

PS Only joking http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Hos 13 November 2000 09:00 PM

gpimp - I totally agree with it being under-estimated.. but only in the following condition:

Have it under half a tank... or even have it under a quarter of a tank of SUL and it has alot better performance.
Shame you can't do anything at all to the engine to get it better though except the full exhaust system.

gpimp 13 November 2000 10:24 PM

Hos, thought about a SS backbox, ran it past my dealer who gave it the thumbs-up, though I don't know about the warranty if it came to the crunch. Why does the backbox cost more for the Sport than the Turbo?
SUL is a new one on me, need more info.
By the way, getting to test drive a P1 on Wed, fine dealer chap that he is! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Hos 13 November 2000 10:37 PM

I have a different backbox on the car but i'm about to go for a scoobysport i think, if i do i want a downpipe , centre de-cat and backbox.. otherwise i won't get any better performance than what i have now. Warrnanty wise - you won't have any probs.

If you test the P1 , you won't want the sport. I've test drove a uk turbo and it was ok, but we have a wrx sti v2 and its a downer driving the wrx then going back to the sport. oh well , 1.5 years till i get a high performance car! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

johnfelstead 13 November 2000 10:37 PM

biggest improvement you can make to a sport, fit 16" wheels and bridgestone SO2 PP tyres, awesome.

i am gonna take my sport to the nurburgring next year, see if i can get a sub 9 mins out of it http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Hos 13 November 2000 10:39 PM

I have 17in Prodrive Superturismo's with Pirelli P-zero's - I think they are absolutely fantastic http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

oregon-rs 13 November 2000 10:56 PM

It looks as though your "sport" is the quite similar to my "rs". However the "rs" here is the top of the line impreza, where is the "sport" in your line up? Any pics?

justin

johnfelstead 13 November 2000 11:02 PM

well, i jump from a bonkers westfield turbo or a 22B and i still love driving my sport!!

I can make that thing dance on a twisty road, its so much lighter than a turbo, isnt much around that can keep up.

Kevin2000 13 November 2000 11:11 PM

The sport is the model below the turbo mate.

oregon-rs 13 November 2000 11:24 PM

How much hp does a stock Sport put out?

justin

Kevin2000 13 November 2000 11:26 PM

125bhp for present and my01 but the jap my01 gets 152bhp.They cant be bothered to fix it for emisions.

gpimp 14 November 2000 09:26 AM

John - I have a set of 16" turbo alloys c/w bridgestones which I used on my last Sport, 98MY, tramlined allover the damn shop. Don't know if they will be going on this car yet. Part worn, plenty miles left on them.

Hos - agree with what you said about post P1 test, I've driven a few turbos and must admit I value my licence more! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

Hos 14 November 2000 12:04 PM

So the de cat pipe would be alot better then? Just would invalidate a MOT.. but it could always be replaced http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

BarryK 14 November 2000 01:35 PM

I used to own a Sport. Traded it for a Turbo. I enjoyed them both. I won't repeat the obvious.

On the acknowledgment front (Dave T-S), today flashed a V or W DBM 5 door Sport..Ignored, a white P Reg turbo.... ignored.

Flashed an L Legacy saloon with a bonnet scoop type thing, got a cheery wave.

Now what do you make of that?

GMAY 14 November 2000 02:12 PM

Yep - I have one too. 5 door MY99 DBM, Eibachs, 16" gold ex-P1 wheels, SS backbox, ITG panel filter, P1 mudflaps, Goodrich steel braided brake hoses, EBC kevlar pads, Pivot shift light, aluminium dash kit, dog guard...

Grahame

Hos 14 November 2000 03:39 PM

GMAY,
I've been waiting to find someone with an ITG panel filter on a MY99 for such a long time!!
Quick question, does it give any better performance? or do you notice any difference? I e-mailed prodrive to find out about an induction kit for it, but they just told me that the original filter is really big and that no other makes any difference to the car... I would love to hear your comments? http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

johnfelstead 14 November 2000 06:25 PM

gpimp

i bet they were the OEM RE010 Bridgestones, i had the same problem with them too.

I melted them at MIRA so had to buy some new tyres, i replaced them with S02 PP's and have not looked back, transformed the car completely!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif

sport special 14 November 2000 06:30 PM

Question??

Do all turbo exhausts fit the sport

Thinking of WR Sport exhaust from Prodrive has anyone used it.

Would the magnex bb fit,

Cheers

Paul

Hos 14 November 2000 07:03 PM

As far as i'm aware , it depends on the backbox, but i think the prodrive one does fit. I have a turbo backbox on mine.. but am thinking about a scoobysport , with a decat centre and downpipe if it can fit?

Interested in finding out about the ITG filter though http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif
