Question

I thought the turbo exhaust pipe was a larger diameter overall and you couldnt put a back box off a turbo onto a sport?

John
Any idea off the top of the heed what S02 PP's are retailing. Yer probably right bout those OEM's, still to check in the garage.
I remember reading your article a while back when u ran-in the sport over and round the Highlands, much entertaining, give us a shout if you plan it again.

Cheers

Hos,

I had the SS bb fitted first, and ran for a while with the OEM filter (SS didn't have the right size ITG at the time). The SS bb made a big difference - especially above 4000 RPM. Then after a couple of weeks, I fitted the ITG (SS had to get ITG to specially make it 'cos the air box on MY99 Sports is bigger than on earlier cars). I have to admit that I didn't notice any appreciable improvement in performance. However, over time, I reckon the ITG will maintain a better airflow than the OEM paper filter. Hope this helps.

I have a Y2K Sport,it does the job for me, excellent looks and handling, I nearly always give the lights to all Scooby drivers. Most return the gesture, but my sport would be going so fast, they would be past me by the time they would flash. (hehe).
Its a pity they don't have the Rear Disk brakes to finish off the looks, I have 17'' Imolas and nothing looks worse that the big drums in the back. Have any of yee converted to disks ?, I heard of it being done, it doesn't help you to slow down much more, but big Vented Disc looks the business.

Do you know any web site you can order the Carbon Dash inserts from, any info would be great..
Rgds,
Colin

What kind of Back boxes have yee on your Sports ??, I think the Turbo backbox will not fit the Sport, the connector at the end of the Backbox pipe is turned upwards compared to the sport. I have a Janspeed DTM on mine, but it is very quite, I'd like a nice deep sound form one, just need the name of a maker...

The flange rotation on a Sport back box means that a turbo back box won't fit.

Turbo backbox won't fit? Well i don't know how Subaru did it but i have the twin pipe turbo backbox on mine. And it goes fine.

As for rear disc conversion, I've looked into it. Falklands performance centre quoted me 500 pounds for a whole new rear axle and brand new 4 pots on the back. I thought about it but decided to just go for the upgraded 4 pots on the front. The guys from POTN have told me that you can buy a bracket to clip on to the drums and then fit disc brakes that way - I've never seen this and don't know how it works.

HOS,

what year is your model, I know for definate that my pipe was cut and the flange was adjusted to fit the Sport, not I don't believe you, we probally have different models..mine the Y2K .

Also you say £500 for the rear axle and 4 pot, would this include everything needed to get it fully working, what about the fitting how much extra was this?? as i said they look the Business when done..

MY99 and I thought i had the turbo backbox. So another backbox must come with the turbo that doesn't fit the sport..I take it the twin is an upgrade then?
The one in the pic is what i had fitted at a subaru dealer before i took ownership of the car from new. It was around 150 pounds i think in the WR range leaflet they had... I had quickshift put in aswell as quite a few other little upgrades.

For the rear discs:
That's what Falklands Performance Centre told me.. , 500 for rear axle and 4pots, i have no idea what the labour time would be , but no doubt it would be alot and you would be ripped off.
I bought some Rb5 4pots from scoobynet for £400 and decided to do one thing at a time- no point now as I shall be changing the car for a turbo in a year and a half.

Also,
You can get fake break discs from Demon Tweaks and paint them dark silver... they look alot better than the rear drums on their own.

...but you'll not have the bonus of that all-important "Hillholder" clutch, that isn't really a clutch at all!!

Is it true that there is only 200 of these Sport Specials being made, ( Black and Yellow ), I believe, I'd love the yellow one. I know a fellow that has a yellow 97' STi, looks the Business..

I have seen these Sport Specials on a web site. There is only something like 200 being built, Extra include the White Dials, High Line Spoiler and Sport Seats and only availble in Yellow and Black..

Could be worth a bit of money, in a few years..
