I've had the car 24hrs or so and have noticed it tends to tramline a bit on hitting bumps etc is this normal i have come from various VAG cars with a lot more vague steering so is it me, the oem Bridgestones, or a poor geo set-up ( tyre wear is even ) the dealer said it had been set-up properly

The bridgestone RE070's are a nightmare for tramlining. Well to be honest most bridgestones are It due to the very hard side walls apparently and if you seen any tyre fitter trying to remove the RE040's a REAL struggle compare to other makes.

What size alloys have you got? I've noticed this problem now I've got 18" alloys. Tempted to swap back to 17" but took me ages to find my wheels!

Yup, it's a trade off. Suffer the RE070's tramlining and benefit with their outstanding cornering abilities or go slower in the corners with a comfier ride and more latent control. I prefer the extra 20mph+ through the bends

Michealin pilotsports PS2's are a good road compromise IMHO

Vredestein UltraC give 90% of RE070 dry grip with GSD3/T1 rivalling wet performance IMHO. Can be had for as little as £68 a corner if you know where to look too

If your happy with your wheels and tyres £70 at powerstation will put it right. They can set your cars geo for fast road use which takes care of most of the problem. Had it done myself on Friday and the difference is substantial. I have to admit i had new springs at the same time but I dont really think this makes much difference to tramlining, if i am wrong i guess someone will soon put me right though!

the wheels and tyreas are ok for me and tyres for the 17's are noticeably cheaper than the 18's i have been paying out for the last few years, I'll get a geometry check just to make sure

Sorry mate, its not a geometry check you need but new geometry settings all together. The camber of the front wheels will be altered by a degree or two so that they lean in at the top giving more cornering stability and encouraging the car to keep its course when driving straight. Its only the smallest amount so it wont really increase tyre wear, and it has to be done by a specialist who knows the correct settings. ATS and the likes wont have a clue.

Mine tramilined terribly when standard, both hands on the all just to hold it straight.

Swapped to 18" PFF (replicase) and Toyo T1-S and it went completely.

Even reduced road noise. £699 well spent!!!

Bloody 'ell, i'm surprised i managed to code anything yesterday.

(i'm recovering from a finger injury, that's my excuse! Had a fight with a stanley blade, when trying to fit the prodrive centre caps. I lost, so did my finger and nail).
