Default Driving style (off and on boost)

Hi ya

Was just wondering in an average day / journey how much time (percentage wise) do you drive on boost...most of the time do you cruise off boost or do you preferring staying slightly 'on' so that you are always ready pounce, so to speak....?

Hi Russell. I think you are one of the guys I invited to come join the Herts Subarus club for a meet or blast. A few of us are going to Elite in Rainham on 29th December for alignment (and a blast ). Come along and you could see whether any of us drive on or off boost

i usually sit at around 2000-2500rpm in most gears, unless im looking for a safe spot to overtake some pillock doing 35 in a 60. but for some reason, when i hit boost, it cuts in and out every second. bit weird. defo not clutch slip, as you can hear the turbo spool and slow, and start again simultaniously. think maybe the boost needs tweaking, or has something in need of replacing.

without hijacking the thread, any ideas...

Out of 150 miles a week probably only 4 or 5 miles of it with foot down.

Great replies guys thanks

When the engine is nice and warm i like to be at around just under 3k most of the time and just enjoy dabbing the throttle through the peak torque range lol...that must sound weird but I know what I mean....

Merce: I will see if I can make it

I cruise about on vacuum most of the time. Then as soon as I'm ready to pounce like a lion, I put my foot down and boost magically appears!

Chocolate, had the same a few weeks ago, I had changed the pill restrictor.
I had a remap a couple of weeks later.
Apparently I was running rich, reset it & the boost, never looked back.

Powerstation did the remap.

Nice to see youy back with a Scoob.

after 8 days of scooby ownership, and a 5 minute journey to and from work, I never go above 2.5k revs on the way there or back.

When im out at night or w/e I will occasionly boot it, but im still learning so, very rarely

Default boost

Usually fill the tank up on a Monday morning on the way to work. Offboost all week, then a little push after work on a Friday. I'd say, 75% offboost driving........ Weekends, depends where and when really, if I'm trying to conserve fuel till Monday then Offboost.

Interesting...seems most people take it quite easy, including myself

I have a 20min journey to work and so don't really have much opportunity especially as it takes a while to warm up in this weather....weekends though :=)

ah thank you mr mac. i believe she is running rich. 1st week i did 268 miles to £60 of fuel (some motorway, some pootling about). second week i did 212 miles on just over half a tank (went to cambridge to meet alloy off here). this week ive done 150 miles, with a third/tank left.

maybe the owner has had something done to the boost, or it may need a remap and servicing. il have jasemac look at it after xmas if he can squeeze me in. dunno when it last had a cambelt either, so a good excuse.

car has done 121000 miles for a 1999 tplate, but had all sorts engine wise changed at 71000k. inc short block maf sensor, turbo, all sorts, literally £4-5k of stuff.
