security at lakeside
#1
Have any of you guys (or gals) had your car damaged due to vandalism/attemted theft, or possibly worse, stolen at Lakeside recently? It's become obvious that over the past couple of months, Lakeside has become a 'no-go' area for RS vehicles, which seem to be targetted, & I wondered if it has happened to any of you, or other people you know with desirable/sports vehicles

I must admit to hearing one or two nasty stories about Lakeside - especially now we are approaching Christmas.
I think Stuart's comment says it all - straight from the horses mouth.
Sorry Stuart, not calling you a horse, but you know what I mean
Chris
Just a quick edit for the benefit of Graham who may not realise that Stuart is one of our friendly resident traffic cops and would therefore be wondering what the hell I was talking about Chris

my other half lives in chigwell and frequently wants to spend my money in lakeside.
I *HATE* leaving it there. Luckily nothing has happened as yet and I've been there about 4-5 times...not my favourite place though.

RSGraham,
I go to Lakeside fairly often and, to date, have not had a problem with my Scoob. However, I tend to park on the ground floor in car park 12 which does not get at all busy, except in the run up to xmas. This means any potential thief is in full view of other users rather than having 100's of cars to hide near.
The cameras at Lakeside were "state of the art" when it was opened, but that was 10 years ago. My wife worked in the management centre there for a while just after opening and said the cameras were fine but the quality of the recordings became crap after a few months. This is just typical of large companies who install the required security systems but fail to maitain them sufficiently enough to produce good recording quality when it is needed most.

I, like Yex, have not (yet, and hopefully never) had any problems parking at lakeside. I've left it during the week when no-one else is about, plus at weekends when it's very busy.
One could be pompus and say that my experience might be down to the fact that it's a wagon, and so not the git's first choice, plus it's rather noticable, as any of those who've seen it can agree.

Thanks for the responses guys, for what good it's gonna do, I've contacted watchdog, because there definately seems to be a problem. I've personally been lucky, but at least 4 RS's have been 'done' in the past few months, & there hasn't been any camera footage to help, and the manager 'allegedly' couldn't give a damn either
Chris thanks fro the enlightenment, I was a bit confused by Stuart's reply!
Mattski, & Puff, I've heard that Bluewater has a better security reputation, although Stuart will probably know better!
