Question Help! Sudden loss of power MY05 WRX

Half way to work this morning, accelerated away but a feeling of lack of normal acceleration and loud screeching noise from engine bay. Still able to accelerate enough to up with the traffic, screeching noise increases gradually as I press the peddle down, but no noise at low revs and normal driving speeds. No odd smells from engine bay.

Have booked the car in this afternoon, assuming I can get it back home. Any ideas?

P.S. has Prodrive upgrade

Its probably an intercooler pipe that's slipped off. It'll give a little boost before blowing under high boost - the screech is the leak.

Thanks for that. I'll have a look as soon as I can get away from work. Will it do any harm to drive the car gently (about 20 miles) to the garage?

Bad news. Garage reckons the turbo's f****d. Fortunately it's under warranty (MY05, about 37000 miles). Unfortunately it means a few days of driving a little red toy car while my Scoob gets sorted.

Also, there's almost no oil left in the engine, after only 7000 miles since the last service. Where did that all go?

Sounds like the turbo has not had enough oil on its bearings? I hope that's all that's gone.

Remember to tell them that you regularly check the oil (once a week) don't you? I know that its your obligation to check oil level and the garage can argue the case if you haven't even under warranty...

You should of topped the oil up before taking it to the garage!
