drive any engine hard for 100k and its gonna need a build, most down to not be treated and looked after right! wrong mods, big boost levels, not changing oil and so on and so on

The best Subaru Imprezas are those WITHOUT re-builds!!!!
These engines are good for a minimum of 150,000miles, failure before this mileage points to 1 of 2 things or both:-
1. It has been thrashed and abused
2. It has not been serviced properly
It could, of course, have been modified ..... but, no-one in their right mind would buy a modified car, I assume you are intelligent enough not to either.
Either way, the best Impreza is the 1 Owner, UK standard car - owned and driven by a mature driver ....................... whether it has 100k miles on it or 200k miles!!

hi i myself have now built over twenty engines for imprezas now
and have found they fail anywhere between 30k and 70k is the most common mileage. usally the big end bearings (this is the most common fault) i have never found out why they go because i recently did a vehicle that has had a full dealer history and it knocked 4 & 2 big ends out.
if you buy a impreza i would say that it,s just bloody bad luck if the engine goes it,s happend to me on my 97wagon with 57k on and i own my own garage
yet my recent 93 wrx with 53k on is as sweet as a nut
i would recomend a modded oil pump to be fitted before any mods are carried out

I find that mechanics have the WORST cars!!
My brother was a Ford Mechie and his cars were bags of nails ...... owning your own garage doesn't mean that your car engine has a less likelyhood of failure - it has MORE chance of failure!!
I put it down to the fact that the Mechie can fix it if it goes **** up ..... your average IT Kiddie and/or Chav on here hasn't a clue, so is more careful about the servicing! (or should be)

Sums it up quite well.
Mechanic's attitude to own vehicles: Ain't broke, don't fix
Mechanics attitude to customer's vehicle: <suck though teeth> Oh, you really need to change the oil on these things every 3K and use 10w-60 oil, as they blow their bigs end every 30K otherwise. And you'll a new MAF on every second serivce.
How else can you make a profit? You don't earn money working on your own car do you ?

My Brother never serviced his cars on time, ever!!
I don't think he does to this day ... even though he is now long out of Car Mechanics.
He claims that he can 'hear' when a service is due and I can concur with that fact ... those who are 'tuned-in' to their vehicles have a knowledge that is not learnt, it is an inner awareness.
