Default 1000 mile oil change

Just got myo5 impreza sti back from its 1000mile oil change. I cant help but fell it is now a lot more sluggish than before. Not only that but a fiat coupe 20v turbo nearly took me to the cleaners on a quiet dual carriage way. The oil used was castrol magnatec. Is this ok or should a fully syntheticoil be used like mobil 1. any input greatly welcomed.

But the oil type will make absolutely no difference to it being sluggish or not.

10k ish

Also dont put fully synthetic in straight away, your engine still wears in so you need semi synthetic of a decent grade (ie not too thin like a 30 grade) so it can carry on doing so, i changed mine to fully synth at 5-6k miles, she uses no oil etc

Lads . . Is this another one of those useful oil threads . .

Jeez . .What , oh what exactly is wrong with using manufacturer specifications . . . .10w40 semi!

Once again . .The oil will not make yr car go faster, but is there to protect yr engine . . .

If yr worried so much abt the oil, do what I did - change it at 5 thou . .

p.s . . I used Esso, with the cool looking tiger on the container!

The oil should make no discernible difference to performance, I suggest you get the car looked at preferably by a third party.

First service consists of oil and filter change and generally staring at the rest of the engine! There should be nothing that alters the performance. Did they adjust the handbrake? They did on mine and I had to immediatly return to the dealer as the rear handbrake shoes were binding.
