Fuel economy - dawes device?
I am about to embark on a new longer distance commute and want to know that if I were to purchase a dawes device and turn the boost right down will I make a significant saving in fuel?
I understand these devices are v crude so if there is a better way that does not cost the earth - ie a new ecu then fire away!
Thanks.

Without wishing to contradict Paul; Subaru flat four engines return ****-poor fuel economy when theyre normally aspirated too..... So the saving will be relative.

i was wondering about this yesterday actually.
if hypothetically my motorway cruising speed was 80-100mph ie on boost would i be better of being able to turn off boost for the period when i don't need the turbo much.
if you are right GC8, then it seems the answer is "No"

With a fuel computer such as the apexi you can alter the fuelling though as long as you have a knocklink to keep it safe and alter the light throttle map to allow better economy while cruising. I don't have any experience of using them myself but someone I know used to use one before getting a power fc and he could get 30+ mpg on a run by doing this.
