Default Fuel economy whinging

Lots of people on here moan about scooby fuel consumption, selling the car/people wont buy due to running costs, buying a diesel etc. Heres a few cars from the November Evo (P 171) long term tests, maybe our scoobies are not so bad after all.

Land rover Discovery TdV6 (school run breeze block)
Costs 41,995
Does 23.5 MPG

Audi A6 3.0 TDI (only for when youve given up)
Price 31,930
Does 28 MPG

Dodge Magnum R/T (looks like fun but 17.9 MPG!)
Price $30,135
Does 17.9 MPG

Subaru Outback 3.0R (Not bad MPG for a 3.0 turbo)
Price 28,000
Does 24.8 MPG

Smart ForFour Brabus (foffourks sake a scoob is no worse than this)
Price 17,195
Does 24.3 MPG

So stop whinging or get a 2.0 diesel and take the performance hit or maybe a toyota prius or a horse!

Yes but theres Diesels in that list, I thought that they all did 50 MPG and still outdragged a scooby when rolling/in the dry/no twisties in sight. Shock horror maybe theres more to life than pump duse/common rail and 300 lb/ft at 50 RPM!

You cynic...........Apparently now you don't even get your hands covered in heavy oil at each fill up. And how many petrol cars have an interior that smells like a Transit (Diesel that is)
