What is overrun?
#2
Overrun, usually means the point when you are off throttle, but still in gear. Eg: if going down a hill in 3rd, using no throttle - that is overrun.
Or if you accelerate quikly and then lift off to slow down without using the brakes.
It usually the point in old cars when the exhaust snap and crackles in a fantastic way.

Older cars!!!! My RB5 has done it since it was about 2 or 3 months old. First started to happen about 800-1000 miles after the 1500mile service just in first gear gradually worked up to second now it does it in just about all of them.....even on command !!!

The term is also used to describe Pre- ignition Eg timing that is in-apropriate for the compression and fuel octane etc causing the engine to continue to fire when the ignition is cut . common in HB Vivas run on 2 star ( ask your dad )
