Flywheel....
then there is something wrong....Mine is very responsive all of a sudden...the clutch and flywheel were replaced tuesday of this week..Cannot explain how but it just feels more responsive..(Sorry about the explanation)...is it because it is new?..i know that it is a differnt kind of flywheel...a new type to the old one
Mike, I'm not starting an argument, I don't know.
How does a flywheel improve "throttle" response. Isn't the "throttle" electronic on these things?
It might improve drive take up, and presumably a lighter one would make the car accelerate better. Is that what you mean?

My understanding (albit somewhat limited) is that if the flywheel is lighter, then there is less mass to attempt to accelerate, thus the engine will pick up better.
On the downside, during gearchanges the lower weight means that the revs may die quicker as the inertia is lower.
(I'm sure this is technically flawed, but its my 10 pence worth on the subject)
Mark.

They probably disconnected the battery for several hours, therefore you have just experienced a fabled ECU reset.
Gradually, as you use the car, it will settle down, probably closer to what it was before.
IMHO of course...

Your understanding is pretty much spot on.
Less mass during gearchanges and overall will mean a change of driving style.
Generally though you will get:
Faster pick up on throttle
More precise 'feel'
Better (greater) engine braking power
more uneven tickover
