HI!

Some info if I can have some?

Went to look at a 02 WRX Sportwagon today. 49.5k on the clock, UK Fleet owned previous owner in Mica (Inky Blue). Looks OK. Just minor scuffs if you look close!, which could polish up & 2x new replacement tyres needed. Don't know anything really about em', but have read all the rave reviews & have actually been a passenger in one a couple of years back.

May go back on Sat. for a Test drive, but need some more info.

Any good recomended insurers? Cheapest so far with Admiral, although need to quote from my own. Liverpool & Victoria. £1100 with Admiral. 32, 3yrs NCB. No points etc...

Would get an RAC inspection which would be worth £175 as I've been stung on my BMW 3 series!! Any less sleepless nights going to approved used Subaru? Can't get one this price though.

What are tyre costs? Need to call round...

50k service coming up. All Subaru to date. But dealer doing it with their own co. Would this have adverse effect if I ever sold it on? Cambelt being changed too by them.

Fuel consumption. Should I consider if I have lengthy commute? 500ish a week possible due to relocation, but job still in City! All Motorway pretty much.

Anything else at all I should consider & then consider again??!!!

All info greatly appreciated.
Cheers
Andy

It depends tbh on price

If it has minor scuffs and needs tyres I would want it to be a good deal, if the service was'nt carried out by Subaru then yes it would affect resale (how much is debatable)

Fuel consumption is fairly bad tbh I get around 25-27 mpg on a run

Any good recomended insurers?

Try elephant.co.uk or Tesco.

Any less sleepless nights going to approved used Subaru?

I paid £10k for my '51 WRX (24k miles), main dealer wanted £13k for same car with 29k miles. Although I have had to shell out for front discs/pads and have a possible gearbox problem.

What are tyre costs?

Go for Toyo's - approx £100-£115 each (fitted)

Would this have adverse effect if I ever sold it on?

Personally I wouldn't touch ANY car pver 5k without a full SH.

Fuel consumption. Should I consider if I have lengthy commute?

Best return I had was 31mpg doing 75-78mph on the motorway.

Anything else at all I should consider & then consider again??!!!

Do you buy one with PPP???????

My 04 WRX Wagon is insured with Admiral. Was about £650 fully comp, now up to £750 with mods declared (springs, splitter and BB)

I've been doing a 100 mile a day commute for the last year, every other week. (Storrington West Sussex to Putney...A24/A29/A3) If I drive the car like it's supposed to, it costs me between £25 and £30 every 2 days. In a bad week I total £75 on Optimax.

The RAC inspection should spot anything nasty. If it's been a fleet car then it may well have been razzed a bit. Yet again the inspection should spot any oil leaky problems or any nasty sounds coming from the engine.

At 50K on the clock it's only about 8K over average, but I'd look for tell tale signs of heavy use via the interior. E.g. worn patches on the seat bolsters, worn pedals, lots of scratches on any plastic bits on the drivers doors, worn carpets.

If you go for the test drive, let the car warm up. You'll find the whole car is much better when it's hot. All impreza's (classic and newage) that I've driven have been a bit lumpy when cold.

The last bit of advice I'd give... after the test drive let the car idle for 30 seconds or so and get your eyes (or a mates) fixed on the exhaust of the car. Now give the car a good rev for a few seconds and look for anything that looks like smoke. If you see some, then run away.

Good luck... and after the test drive you'll probably want to buy it anyway

J.

Privilege were best for me too, tyres are about £90 to £100 a corner for a good make www.mytyres.co.uk , and yes an RAC check is well worth the money IMHO
