Default engine ticking (help)

Hi when i start my car up the engine is ticking really bad but once it has warmed up the ticking goes away, does any body know why this is?

What car? what year? ticking may be tappets or piston slap

Mines been doing this for the last couple of days, it's a 96 uk so I doubt it's piston slap.

When was your last oil change m8?

Default tappety

Mine is a MY01 bugeye with nearly 91,000 miles on it and it sounds tappety cold or hot is there anyway of fixing this or does it mean new tappets and is it expensive to do thanx steve

My 02 bugeye does it with only 22k, until its warmed up.

Has the Impreza got Hydraulic Tappetts?

Aren't they hydraulic on the early ones?

Mushy, I'm assuming you've checked the oil level and all is fine.

I noticed the same when I took my2001 for a test drive b4 I bought it....got serviced before I collected it and have heard nothing since.

try changing the oil, used to have a similar issue with 94sti Wagon, use a good thin synthetic oil.

Its probably your injectors ticking; they were so loud on my Porsche that you could clearly hear them over the engine. I hadnt noticed them on a Scooby though...

pick it up from southamton docks about aweek ago and did the mot and them gave it in for paint work and when down to see how he is getting on and he said i moved your car and engine is ticking so it just started.
