i saw some figures quoted on here for the standard WRX i think it was at 220 bhp and the power/weight ration was 190bhp per tonne...surely the PPP with 245bhp would be higher...?

It's a simple calc - power(bhp e.g. 225)/weight(tonnes - e.g. 1.395)...

the 190 figure is for MY03 WRX PPP.

Bodgery.

190 bhp/ tonne might be for for a classic WRX (jap spec), which is much lighter? Off the top of my head, say 240bhp in 1270kg is about right for the earlier ones.

02 WRX as standard was 215bhp, and 1380kg IIRC. PPP took it to 245bhp, no significant weight change. 245/1.38 is a pretty straightforward sum - 177.5 bhp/tonne.

To get over 190bhp/tonne, you either need the newer 265bhp PPP, or decat or some other tuning. You'd be lucky to ever excede 210/tonne without a turbo change.

b.t.w. is power / weight RATIO. "Ration" is something they did during world war II

I quote myself from a much earlier thread regarding a clio cup:

"My twopenneth:

ignoring Fuel and driver weights etc.

standard WRX (221bhp)........- 161bhp/ton
standard Sti(265bhp)...........- 180 bhp/ton
Sti PPP (300bhp).................- 204 bhp/ton
Sti PPP re-mapped (330bhp)..- 224 bhp/ton
Spec C (335bhp).................- 247 bhp/ton

Classic (with 280bhp)...........- 217bhp/ton

Clio Cup (170bhp)................- 171bhp/ton

No surprise the Clio is a match comparing these figures is it?

Of course a lot of other variables involved, 2WD v 4WD with associated transmission loss etc. etc. but a starting point for comparison purposes."

Thought you might find that handy!
