Reminds me of the Gatso that used to be just outside Billingshurst on the A272. One of the locals was 'flashed', so he went back with a heavy-duty chainsaw, cut it down and nicked the whole camera!
It was never seen again

Yeah,
Spot on there Neil! Just look at all of those junctions, parked vehicles, pedestrians and the complete absence of street lighting. Very dangerous, we need to be protected. Well done Lancashire Police, any reason why you don't ask for a 20mph limit? Shame on you! That was our £30k that you blew. Justify yourselves.

Fraid the story is false. This is less than a mile from where I live, cameras have never been on the posts, they were only putting the white lines on week before last! PLUS when they do go up, they will just be normal rear facing Gatso cameras!
Good idea though...

I heard about that one, it turned out that it was only the dummy unit & he hadn't actually been caught!

Not only is that not an accident blackspot but that dual carriageway until very recently was a 70mph road. So they lowered the limit without any of the usual CAUTION CHANGE OF SPEED LIMIT SIGNS then install a couple of camera's.
Camera's knicked LMAO I thought they just hadn't installed them yet!!!
Incidentally I know who you have to blame for these camera's, local police, NO, local people, NO, local goverment, NO, MAXpower brigade who congregate on Preston docks and use this piece of road as a drag strip !! could be!!! (OK how many of you thought it was gonna be Hong Kong Phooey?) The same people who are responsible for the mobile camera that appears on Wednesday nights on the brdige over the M61 just before the Chorley turn off,due to there using the M61 and the road network at the REEBOCK STADIUM in Bolton as a race track
T***ERS one and all
