Wow! Makes Curborough look a bit small
Stef: As king of the track days, have you any advice for my first, proper, track day? I'm doing Curborough Sprint Circuit to get used to being unleashed but it's hardly Donnington.
Do you reckon an airfield day would be best?
Don't want to embarass myself too much and would benefit from some tuition.

King of Track Days??? Steady on!
I like driving my car on track, but by no means am I king of anything!! Nice touch though!
All I can really say is that there's no better place to first go on track. An airfield may have less to hit if you do go off, but there are several tracks where you'd be unlucky to hit anything, Silverstone and Donington are both quite safe I reckon. You also have the benefit of a decent surface and it's easier to find the lines. Airfields are a good way to start if you are a bit worried, but it's a completely different experience to driving on a track. I personally don't get the same buzz on an airfield, as they are generally quite flat and featureless, I like dips and things, but that's me.
It certainly wouldn't hurt to do an airfield day first, or even this sprint circuit which may quite suit the Scoob.
The important thing is to build up your confidence slowly and learn the circuit before you go too fast. Most accidents at track days tend to happen early on when people go straight out and blast it.
Going out with an instructor is always a good idea, and most events have someone on hand.
The most important thing is to enjoy yourself and drive within your limits. Do that in the first place, and it doesn't really matter where you are, you'll have a great time.
